WHY LAWSTRONAUT

Why Lawstronaut for Ghanaian legal research

Ghanaian legal information is spread across the Gazette, Parliament, ministries, statutory agencies, regulators, courts, and publication sources. For humans, that means slow research. For AI systems, it's a bigger problem: fragmented source access, inconsistent formats, missing provenance, and weak citation trails.

Lawstronaut turns those sources into one structured legal data layer — source links, metadata, full text, versioning, and API/MCP access. Your product or agent retrieves the legal source directly instead of relying on generic web search or unverified model memory. Every answer carries a citation, a timestamp, and a link to the official document — the provenance that makes a legal research platform defensible to auditors and regulators.

About Ghana legal coverage

Ghana is a common-law jurisdiction rooted in English legal tradition, operating under the 1992 Constitution as the supreme law, alongside statute, common law, and customary law. Primary legislation is enacted by the unicameral Parliament of Ghana as Acts, with subsidiary legislation issued as Legislative, Executive, and Constitutional Instruments, all published in the Gazette of the Republic of Ghana. Regulatory policy sits across ministries and statutory agencies — the Bank of Ghana, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Communications Authority, the Data Protection Commission, and others. Case law spans the Supreme Court of Ghana, the Court of Appeal, and the High Court, reported in the Ghana Law Reports. Legal materials are published in English.

Ghanaian law moves quickly: the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) overhauled company law by replacing the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179); the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) established the Data Protection Commission and its registration regime; and tax, financial-sector, and investment legislation is amended frequently through annual Acts and Legislative Instruments — so citations to outdated provisions can simply be wrong. Point-in-time data straight from the source is what keeps a Ghana legal research answer correct today.
