Why Lawstronaut for Punjab legal research
Punjab legal information is spread across the Punjab Government Gazette, the Legislative Assembly, state departments and agencies, regulators, the courts, and national legislation repositories. For humans, that means slow research. For AI systems, it's a bigger problem: fragmented source access, inconsistent formats, missing provenance, and weak citation trails.
Lawstronaut turns those sources into one structured legal data layer — source links, metadata, full text, versioning, and API/MCP access. Your product or agent retrieves the legal source directly instead of relying on generic web search or unverified model memory. Every answer carries a citation, a timestamp, and a link to the official document — the provenance that makes a legal research platform defensible to auditors and regulators.
About Punjab legal coverage
Punjab is a state in northern India within India's federal, common-law system, inherited from British India and framed by the Constitution of India. Primary legislation takes the form of State Acts passed by the unicameral Punjab Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) in Chandigarh and assented to by the Governor, published in the Punjab Government Gazette by the Department of Legal and Legislative Affairs; subordinate legislation — rules, notifications, and ordinances — follows the same route. Central (Union) laws also apply within the state and are published nationally through the India Code. The judiciary runs from the Punjab and Haryana High Court — the common High Court for Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, seated in Chandigarh — down to the district courts, with the Supreme Court of India at the apex. Legal materials are published in Punjabi and English.
Punjab law changes continuously: the Legislative Assembly amends state Acts, the state gazettes a steady stream of notifications and rules across agriculture, land revenue, excise, and municipal administration, and recent measures such as the Punjab State Development Tax Act, 2018 show how quickly fiscal and regulatory rules move — so citations to superseded provisions can simply be wrong. Point-in-time data straight from the source is what keeps a Punjab legal research answer correct today.
