WHY LAWSTRONAUT

Why Lawstronaut for Lithuanian legal research

Lithuanian legal information is spread across legislation portals, the Seimas, ministries, statutory agencies, financial and data-protection regulators, courts, and publication sources. For humans, that means slow research. For AI systems, it's a bigger problem: fragmented source access, inconsistent formats, missing provenance, and weak citation trails.

Lawstronaut turns those sources into one structured legal data layer — source links, metadata, full text, versioning, and API/MCP access. Your product or agent retrieves the legal source directly instead of relying on generic web search or unverified model memory. Every answer carries a citation, a timestamp, and a link to the official document — the provenance that makes a legal research platform defensible to auditors and regulators.

About Lithuania legal coverage

Lithuania is a civil-law jurisdiction and a European Union member state, with a legal system rooted in continental European tradition and substantially recodified after independence in 1990. Primary legislation — laws (įstatymai), codes, and government resolutions — is promulgated through the Register of Legal Acts (Teisės aktų registras, TAR), maintained by the Seimas, which replaced the former official gazette Valstybės žinios on 1 January 2014. Regulatory policy sits across ministries and statutory bodies including the Bank of Lithuania, the Competition Council, and the State Data Protection Inspectorate, while case law spans the Constitutional Court (Konstitucinis Teismas), the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Administrative Court. Legal materials are published in Lithuanian.

Lithuanian law changes continually: the Civil Code in force since 1 July 2001 and the Labour Code (Law No. XII-2603, effective 1 July 2017) have both been amended repeatedly, and EU-driven reforms — from GDPR implementation to financial-services rules supervised by the Bank of Lithuania — land as new consolidated versions in TAR. Citations to superseded provisions can simply be wrong, so point-in-time data straight from the source is what keeps a Lithuania legal research answer correct today.
