Which instrument establishes the constitutional framework of the Canton of Jura?
The Constitution of the Republic and Canton of Jura (Constitution de la République et Canton du Jura) of 20 March 1977, as amended, is the cantonal constitution. Adopted when the canton was created and in force since the Jura joined the Confederation on 1 January 1979, it sets out the canton's institutions — the Parlement, the Gouvernement, and the courts — and is published in the Recueil systématique du droit jurassien (RSJU 101).

Why Lawstronaut for Jura legal research
Jura legal information is spread across the cantonal legislation collection, the official gazette, the cantonal parliament and government, departments, and courts — layered on top of Swiss federal law, and published in French. For humans, that means slow research. For AI systems, it's a bigger problem: fragmented source access, inconsistent formats, missing provenance, and weak citation trails.
Lawstronaut turns those sources into one structured legal data layer — source links, metadata, full text, versioning, and API/MCP access. Your product or agent retrieves the legal source directly instead of relying on generic web search or unverified model memory. Every answer carries a citation, a timestamp, and a link to the official document — the provenance that makes a legal research platform defensible to auditors and regulators.
About Jura legal coverage
Jura is a French-speaking canton of Switzerland in the country's civil-law, federal system. Cantonal law operates beneath the Swiss Federal Constitution and federal legislation, while the canton has its own constitution — the Constitution de la République et Canton du Jura of 20 March 1977 — its own parliament (Parlement), its own executive (Gouvernement), and its own courts, headed by the Tribunal cantonal with a Cour constitutionnelle. Cantonal legislation is published in the Recueil systématique du droit jurassien (RSJU) and announced in the Journal officiel de la République et Canton du Jura, in French, with the seat of government in Delémont.
Jura is the youngest Swiss canton: created after the plebiscites of the 1970s, it separated from the Canton of Bern and joined the Confederation on 1 January 1979, and its parliament and popular referendums continue to revise cantonal statutes while federal reforms flow down into cantonal implementation. Citations to superseded provisions can therefore be wrong. Point-in-time data straight from the source is what keeps a Jura legal research answer correct today.
