Why Lawstronaut for Iranian legal research
Iranian legal information is spread across the Official Gazette, the Majlis and its research center, ministries, statutory agencies, regulators, courts, and publication sources. For humans, that means slow research. For AI systems, it's a bigger problem: fragmented source access, inconsistent formats, missing provenance, and weak citation trails.
Lawstronaut turns those sources into one structured legal data layer — source links, metadata, full text, versioning, and API/MCP access. Your product or agent retrieves the legal source directly instead of relying on generic web search or unverified model memory. Every answer carries a citation, a timestamp, and a link to the official document — the provenance that makes a legal research platform defensible to auditors and regulators.
About Iran legal coverage
Iran is a civil-law jurisdiction whose codified law is fused with Islamic (Shia jurisprudence) principles under the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Primary legislation is enacted by the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis), reviewed by the Guardian Council for constitutionality and conformity with Islamic law, and published in the Official Gazette (Rooznameh Rasmi). Foundational codes include the Civil Code (Qanun-e Madani), the Commercial Code (Qanun-e Tejarat), and the Islamic Penal Code (Qanun-e Mojazat-e Eslami). The judiciary spans the Supreme Court, the Administrative Justice Court, and specialized and revolutionary courts, with regulators such as the Central Bank of Iran and the Securities and Exchange Organization issuing sector rules. Legal materials are published in Persian (Farsi).
Iranian law changes at pace: the Islamic Penal Code was substantially recast in 2013 (1392), successive Five-Year Development Plans and annual budget acts reshape economic and regulatory rules, and a Bill for the Protection of Personal Data and Privacy remains under consideration — so citations to outdated provisions can simply be wrong. Point-in-time data straight from the source is what keeps an Iran legal research answer correct today.
