WHY LAWSTRONAUT

Why Lawstronaut for Haitian legal research

Haitian legal information is spread across the official gazette, ministries, statutory agencies, regulators, courts, and the legislature — much of it in print or scattered PDFs. For humans, that means slow research. For AI systems, it's a bigger problem: fragmented source access, inconsistent formats, missing provenance, and weak citation trails.

Lawstronaut turns those sources into one structured legal data layer — source links, metadata, full text, versioning, and API/MCP access. Your product or agent retrieves the legal source directly instead of relying on generic web search or unverified model memory. Every answer carries a citation, a timestamp, and a link to the official document — the provenance that makes a legal research platform defensible to auditors and regulators.

About Haiti legal coverage

Haiti is a civil-law jurisdiction rooted in the French legal tradition, with codes descended from the Napoleonic model. Primary legislation is enacted by the bicameral legislature — the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, together forming the National Assembly — and promulgated by the President, then published in the official gazette, Le Moniteur (Journal Officiel de la République d'Haïti), printed by the Presses Nationales d'Haïti. The judiciary runs from the Tribunals of First Instance through the Courts of Appeal to the Cour de Cassation as the highest ordinary court, with the Cour Supérieure des Comptes et du Contentieux Administratif handling public-finance and administrative disputes. Regulatory and financial oversight sits with bodies such as the Banque de la République d'Haïti and CONATEL. Legal materials are published in French, with Haitian Creole also an official language.

Haitian law can change through both ordinary legislation and, during periods without a sitting parliament, presidential decrees — so the status of a given text depends heavily on when and how it was issued. Point-in-time data straight from the official source, with clear provenance on each instrument, is what keeps a Haiti legal research answer correct today.
