Why Lawstronaut for Ivorian legal research
Ivorian legal information is spread across legislation portals, ministries, statutory agencies, regional regulators, courts, and publication sources — much of it in French, and some of it governed by OHADA and UEMOA texts rather than national law. For humans, that means slow research. For AI systems, it's a bigger problem: fragmented source access, inconsistent formats, missing provenance, and weak citation trails.
Lawstronaut turns those sources into one structured legal data layer — source links, metadata, full text, versioning, and API/MCP access. Your product or agent retrieves the legal source directly instead of relying on generic web search or unverified model memory. Every answer carries a citation, a timestamp, and a link to the official document — the provenance that makes a legal research platform defensible to auditors and regulators.
About Côte d'Ivoire legal coverage
Côte d'Ivoire is a civil-law jurisdiction rooted in French legal tradition, and a member of OHADA (the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa), the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), and ECOWAS. Primary legislation is enacted by Parliament — the Assemblée Nationale and the Sénat — and published in the Journal Officiel de la République de Côte d'Ivoire (JORCI) by the Secrétariat Général du Gouvernement. Regulatory policy sits across ministries and statutory agencies, while banking and monetary rules flow from the regional central bank, the BCEAO, under the West African CFA franc (XOF). Case law spans the Cour de Cassation, the Conseil d'État, the Cour des Comptes, and the Conseil Constitutionnel, alongside courts of appeal and first-instance tribunals. Legal materials are published in French.
Ivorian law moves quickly: the 2016 Constitution establishing the Third Republic (revised in 2020) reshaped the judicial architecture by replacing the former Cour Suprême with separate high courts; the 2018 Investment Code (Ordinance No. 2018-646 of 1 August 2018) reset incentives for foreign and domestic investment; and much of commercial, company, security, and insolvency law is set directly by OHADA Uniform Acts rather than national statute — so citations to outdated provisions, or to national texts superseded by OHADA, can simply be wrong. Point-in-time data straight from the source is what keeps a Côte d'Ivoire legal research answer correct today.
