Why Lawstronaut for Chadian legal research
Chadian legal information is spread across legislation portals, the Journal Officiel, ministries, regional bodies such as OHADA and CEMAC, regulators, courts, and publication sources. For humans, that means slow research. For AI systems, it's a bigger problem: fragmented source access, inconsistent formats, missing provenance, and weak citation trails.
Lawstronaut turns those sources into one structured legal data layer — source links, metadata, full text, versioning, and API/MCP access. Your product or agent retrieves the legal source directly instead of relying on generic web search or unverified model memory. Every answer carries a citation, a timestamp, and a link to the official document — the provenance that makes a legal research platform defensible to auditors and regulators.
About Chad legal coverage
Chad is a civil-law jurisdiction rooted in the French legal tradition, layered with customary law and, in matters of personal status, Islamic law. Primary legislation is published in the Journal Officiel de la République du Tchad (JORT) by the Secrétariat Général du Gouvernement, while regulatory policy sits across ministries and statutory agencies. As a member of OHADA, Chad applies the OHADA Uniform Acts directly for business and commercial law, and as a member of CEMAC it is bound by community texts and the regional central bank, the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale (BEAC). Case law spans the Cour Suprême, the Conseil Constitutionnel, and lower courts and tribunals. Legal materials are published in French and Arabic, the country's two official languages.
Chadian law is in a period of rapid change: a new Constitution was adopted by referendum in December 2023 and promulgated in 2024, reshaping the institutional framework after the political transition, with legislative elections following in December 2024 — so citations to superseded constitutional and institutional provisions can simply be wrong. Point-in-time data straight from the source is what keeps a Chad legal research answer correct today.
